Wrinkle Reduction Injections

Non-surgical treatments that smooth and relax facial muscles.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein which reduces the activity of the muscles which cause frown lines and crow’s feet, as well as lines on the forehead.

A simple, non-surgical treatment, BOTOX® Cosmetic can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, crow’s feet, and forehead lines.

Tackling the tough wrinkle spot between the brows…

If you’re looking for something for that one tough wrinkle spot, the area between your brows (known as the glabellar lines), be sure to talk to Dr. Roche and her staff about BOTOX® Cosmetic and find out if it is right for you. BOTOX® Cosmetic is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows. BOTOX® cosmetic was also approved by the FDA to treat moderate to severe Canthal lines, otherwise known as crow’s feet.

One 10-minute BOTOX® treatment of a few small injections will result in a noticeable improvement of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows or crow’s feet within days. While the duration of these results may vary, they generally last up to 4 months.

Are the years putting lines on your face? Maybe it’s time for BOTOX®.

Have your facial expressions begun to cause wrinkles on your forehead and have crow’s feet put years on your face? To maintain a long lasting, younger appearance of your face, non-invasive cosmetic therapies and injections are usually the treatment of choice. Wrinkles crop up with the use of facial muscles. BOTOX® is injected into targeted muscles with a fine needle and simply inactivates those muscles that produce wrinkles. BOTOX® is mainly used to eliminate crow’s feet, frown lines, laugh lines, and forehead lines when injected in small doses. BOTOX® significantly repairs deep lines and wrinkles (visible signs of stress and aging) due to squinting, laughing, frowning, smoking, and anxiety.

BOTOX® – The most popular anti-wrinkle treatment today.

BOTOX® is the fastest growing anti-wrinkle treatment available. Since its FDA approval in 2002, BOTOX®Cosmetic has become the most popular of these anti-wrinkle treatments, with millions of procedures since it was first introduced.

The BOTOX® Treatment

A BOTOX® treatment typically takes approximately 10 minutes. It is not necessary to anaesthetise the area to be treated due to minimal discomfort, although we do use a topical anaesthetic to reduce any discomfort associated with the procedure. BOTOX® is injected into the area affected by visible lines with a very thin needle. The BOTOX® causes the muscles initiating the lines and wrinkles to relax which reduces the appearance of undesirable wrinkles and lines on the skin. The skin’s reaction to the muscles is what commonly causes wrinkles. The results of the BOTOX® treatment may be seen in as little as 10 days following treatment. Results will last from 3 to 4 months before they begin to gradually fade away. Your next treatment should be scheduled before the effects completely fade away.

What are the areas that can be injected?

The following photo shows areas that are frequently injected with Botox or Dysport.

How long does the effect last?

BTX-A temporarily relaxes the injected muscles for 3 months (the result may vary, rarely as short as 6 weeks to as long as 6 months in our personal experience).

How does it work?

Botox and Dysport work by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles, thereby reducing the muscle activity that is responsible for the formation of frown lines between the brows, crow's feet around the eyes and horizontal lines on the forehead.

Type of facial lines and wrinkles

Dynamic lines are created when the muscles under the skin of the face, such as those in the forehead or around the eyes, contract and cause your skin to fold and develop frown lines, horizontal forehead lines, or crow's feet lines. These type of lines can be reduced and later even eliminated by Botox and Dysport injections.

Static lines are lines that exist even when your muscles are at rest. These lines are the result of aging and repetitive movement of the underlying facial muscles over the years, as well as the loss of collagen and elastin in the skin. These types of lines can be improved with Botox and Dysport injections, however; they may need to be additionally treated with fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane for optimal correction.

Are there any Safety concerns with Botox or Dysport treatments?

Botox has been used therapeutically since 1980 for more than 23 years to treat a variety of medical conditions. Dysport has been in use for over 20 years. Botox and Dysport are now approved in more than 75 countries. Botox and Dysport both remain some of the most widely researched medicines in the world for their therapeutic use.
